Queens Lodge and You

We are committed to providing a consistently high standard of care at Queens Lodge and to help us maintain our high standards we regularly seek the views and comments of residents, their relatives and other visitors to the Home. We do this by carrying out surveys on a periodic basis, giving people the opportunity to make suggestions about the service we provide. The development of our service is based on the feedback we receive from our residents, thereby ensuring that each resident's service provision is 'tailor-made'. The results of these surveys are published and are available for your perusal at any time.

Most residents agree that the quality and variety of food is an important element of service provision and therefore this is one of our highest priorities. Our chef ensures that our food products are purchased only from top quality suppliers and daily deliveries enable us to serve fresh, homemade meals every day.

Our food surveys help us to buy products which are preferable to our residents, for example, we find that residents prefer fresh milk to long life milk and so on. This means we can provide products that residents themselves would buy, for example, Kingsmill bread, Tetley tea, Maxwell House coffee, Anchor butter, Kellogg's cereals, Knorr bouillon etc..

We always welcome feedback from residents and their visitors, so please feel free to send us your comments - the more feedback we receive the better equipped we are to tailor our service for your needs.

Queens Lodge, The Environment And The Community

The protection of our environment is important to us and this is reflected in our 'environment friendly' policy, which involves the following:
  • As we strongly believe in the humane treatment of animals we have ensured a guarantee from our fresh meat supplier that Queens Lodge will at no time be supplied with Halal or Kosher meat.

  • We operate our own recycling program where paper, cardboard, plastic and glass used in the Home is saved and taken regularly to local recycling bins.

  • We buy only free range eggs which are supplied by a local farm and, as we believe in supporting the local economy, we purchase all our fresh produce from local businesses.

  • We use only fresh milk which is delivered daily - straight from the local cows!

  • The preservation of our local wildlife is important to us and our large gardens and pond provide an excellent habitat for many species of wildlife. Our wild bird 'feeding station' to the rear of the building is a hive of activity and our residents enjoy watching the vast range of birds feeding from the conservatory. All our wild bird food is supplied by a company which is endorsed by the RSPB.

  • Queens Lodge takes an active role in raising funds for charity and we have adopted our own charity to which all proceeds from special events are donated. We are proud to announce that our adopted charity is -

'THE GUIDE DOGS FOR THE BLIND ASSOCIATION'

The dogs and their owners regularly visit the home and the residents always enjoy receiving regular updates about the charity and their work.
